Five Reasons Why You Should Invest in Marketing

Five Reasons Why You Should Invest in Marketing

Jun 21, 2019 | Marketing

It may surprise you to read this on our blog, but you can run a business without much marketing. Many people over the centuries have made a living owning a business where they never invested one dime in a single advertisement, flyer, commercial, or website. Even though that can be the case, you should be investing in marketing. Here are five reasons why.

You have something important to say.

Have a conversation with your customers. You may be surprised to learn some of the basic information about your business and services customers do not know about. You may learn of areas where there is a need in your market and need to offer more. No one will buy your product or services if there is not an understanding of why it is needed.

Now, how will you get this information out to others? It may be as simple as distributing more print materials or building or redesigning a website. Investing in some ads on social media may be a good choice. Blogging is another way that speaks to customers that you truly care about earning their business, and it doesn’t cost you anything. In fact, blogging is said to have the potential to increase your leads by up to 67%. 1

You don’t have to spend a lot of time on marketing.

You may feel completely lost when it comes with how to market your business. With all the many options available, that is understandable. Instead of spending hours and hours trying to figure out what makes sense for you, have a conversation with someone that is already an expert. Marketing companies like our own specialize in understanding important details like who your clients or customers are and how to reach them. Your efforts can start small. You don’t have to invest in time consuming projects such as tv commercials. That may not even be a good choice for your business. Make a plan to invest in some simple, cost effective efforts and increase from there.

You don’t have to invest a lot in marketing.

Marketing companies exist because it doesn’t always make sense to hire someone in-house to do your marketing, and as a business owner you have a thousand other things to do. Instead of spending thousands of dollars on an employee’s salary, you can come to a company such as our own with these types of projects.

Many forms of marketing are also more affordable than you may think thanks to the digital era we live in. Digital advertising such as social media ads are very effective, specifically targeted to who you wish to reach and cheaper than many traditional forms of advertising.

The results are easy to measure.

Now, more than ever before, we can see the effectiveness of our marketing efforts. Many forms of digital marketing provide valuable insights into consumer behavior and how much they are engaging with the information we produce. These insights allow us to adjust our marketing plans to specifically target those you hope to reach.

You’re forward-thinking about sustaining your business.

You may have built a successful business completely by word of mouth referrals. That is a wonderful thing, but unfortunately we never know what the future may hold. You may have a new competitor move into your area with a big marketing budget. Being a well-establish business with an established customer base, you may not need to spend near as much as your competitor, but you still need a plan to stay on top of the game.

Marketing not only helps you attract your ideal customers, but it helps you attract ideal employees as well. Through marketing, you provide others with valuable insights into who you are and your ideals. Top talent is paying attention and will reach out to businesses that are demonstrating grow and thriving.

Investing in marketing is like buying insurance. Hopefully you never desperately need it, but because you have it, you can rest assured that the future will be brighter. What if your best customers are the older generation. How will you reach out to younger customers? This is an important issue many businesses face that can be better managed by marketing.
